The Boston Bruins have announced the signing of unrestricted free agent defenseman Nikita Zadorov to a six-year, $30 million deal with an annual salary cap hit of $5 million per year. The former Vancouver Canucks defenseman will bring physicality to the blue line and fills a true need in Boston’s lineup. The Bruins have left-shot defensemen Hampus Lindholm and Mason Lohrei as puck-moving options and Parker Wotherspoon becomes the seventh defenseman with this acquisition.
Zadorov, 29, played 75 regular season games with the Canucks and Calgary Flames during the 2023-24 season and scored six goals with 14 assists and a 0 plus/minus. In 21 games with the Flames, the 6-foot-6, 250-pound defenseman registered a goal and five assists before being traded to Vancouver in November. Zadorov played 13 postseason games with four goals and four assists.
