Florida Panthers' Brad Marchand is taking his Dairy Queen partnership to a whole new level, as he held a meet and greet in Halifax to raise money for a hospital.
This year's 'Miracle Treat Day' at Dairy Queen got a special boost in celebrity fashion and for one very good reason.
Florida Panthers left-winger Brad Marchand stopped by the Fall River Dairy Queen in Halifax, Nova Scotia, yesterday to sign autographs, wave at the crowd, and participate in the fundraiser benefiting the IWK Health Centre, the Atlantic children's hospital, giving helpful support to the patients and families.
This event is personal to Brad Marchand, as he is a Hammonds Plains resident himself. Marchand is a big supporter of Dairy Queen during 'Miracle Treat Day', as he feels they do such wonderful things for children throughout the province.
'I think it's such a great opportunity. Especially being a Dad, it really hits home on what families and kids go through when they're in there,' said Marchand.'Any opportunity to give back and help be part of something special, it's great. Dairy Queen has raised so much money and changed so many lives, it's incredible.'
His appearance followed a lighthearted moment in the playoffs this spring during the Stanley Cup playoffs, when Marchand declared his affection for Dairy Queen Blizzard dessert snacks.
That public declaration set the stage for this appearance on 'Miracle Treat Day' where proceeds from the Blizzard go directly to the IWK.
Just back from partying with friends and family in his hometown of Halifax last month after winning his second career Stanley Cup, Marchand greeted a line of fans eager to meet the NHL champion and be treated to a Blizzard for a good deed.
All of the Blizzards purchased on August 14 helped bring hope, life-saving attention, and comfort to children in crisis.
