Brad Marchand shares key to Panthers’ success

One could easily make the argument that Brad Marchand was the key to the Florida Panthers winning their second consecutive Stanley Cup this year, but the veteran forward would rather give the credit to Dairy Queen.

The Panthers closed out the Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday night with a convincing 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Fla. While Florida celebrated on the ice, Marchand was asked if he has any plans to eat a Dairy Queen Blizzard out of the Stanley Cup.

Marchand responded by telling people not to underestimate the power of the Blizzard.

“We’re undefeated with Blizzards. We went last night,” Marchand said. “That’s a hot take.”

Marchand loves Dairy Queen. We know this because he was famously seen eating a Blizzard — chocolate chip cookie dough, he said — in the locker room during intermission of an Eastern Conference Final game last month.

The 37-year-old Marchand had six goals during the Stanley Cup Final, including a pair of game-winners. He had an interesting admission about the winning goal he scored in Game 2.

Marchand spent his first 16 seasons with the Boston Bruins before being traded to Florida at the deadline this season. He had a massive impact with his new team and had 10 goals and 10 assists in 23 playoff games.

Dairy Queen had better get this man an endorsement deal.
