We love Brendan Gallagher.
He’s done the Montreal Canadiens organization proud for many years, and he’ll always be recognized as a truly respected player in town.
Except that right now, it’s hard to send him flowers. The guy may have a good heart, but his body just isn’t keeping up… and that’s starting to become a problem in Montreal.
Gally has only scored three goals so far this season.
But there’s more to it than that: if you watch the games, it’s easy to see that Brendan Gallagher isn’t getting anywhere. He seems to be out of breath as soon as he steps on the ice, and that makes him much less effective for the club.
He’s not producing, he’s not hitting, he’s having trouble keeping up, he’s not completing plays…
It’s flat for him, but at some point… Martin St-Louis will have to make a tough decision. I’m not saying he shouldn’t play all season, but maybe using him every other game(I’m just throwing it out there) could give him a new lease on life too.
There are other guys who are capable of filling a similar role to Gally, after all. And with Patrik Laine, Kirby Dach, and Josh Anderson potentially returning to the game soon (not to mention Jake Evans)… maybe it’s Gally who’ll have to bail.

For a club to be successful, all players must be able to fulfill their roles.
Martin St-Louis often talks about it: the guys have a specific role in the lineup… And they have to respect it too.
That said, Gallagher has looked like a passenger more often than not in recent weeks, and even if it’s not a question of willpower, the results are the same at the end of the day.
In a way, that’s the pity. We all know that Brendan Gallagher wants to help the Canadiens. We all know he cares about his club’s success.
But right now, he’s having trouble doing what he used to do… and maybe it’s time to have a more serious discussion about the little forward.
Remember that his contract ($6.5 million) doesn’t expire until the summer of 2027…

– The guys are having fun.
Despite the ménage à trois, the goalies seem to have a nice camaraderie.
