After several minor trades (including the one sending Joshua Roy to Utah ), Kent Hughes has completed his first major trade of the offseason.
And he didn't have to buy out Gally's contract to trade him. But he did have to retain 50% of his contract and accept (only) future considerations in return to make it happen.

After being benched for most of the playoffs, the veteran realized his future was no longer with the Canadiens. So he asked to be traded.
The Habs sent him home, which was the right thing to do. #Respect
Even though he no longer had a place in the team's lineup, he was a respected veteran. The guys liked him in the locker room, and the fans respected his effort.
One day, he'll be honored by the Habs, once the dust has settled. But for now, he still sees himself making an impact in the National Hockey League, and it'll happen right here in his home region.
