The Minnesota Wild are out of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs after a loss on Wednesday night. Brett Kulak sent the Colorado Avalanche to the Western Conference Finals with an overtime game-winner. As a result, Brock Faber and his teammates will head toward the offseason much sooner than they anticipated.
The Wild certainly aren’t a bad team. They even dominated this game for most of the night. Their performances gave them the belief they could have won the series. Faber echoed this sentiment while venting some frustrations at the same time.
“They deserved to win this series, plain and simple. And, yeah, that’s just where it just gets frustrating, right? Because when we are at our absolute best, I think we can beat this team. Just they were more consistent,” the Wild defenseman said, via The Athletic’s Michael Russo.
Faber acknowledged that the Avalanche simply outplayed the Wild in this series. But that fact is what makes the result all the more frustrating for the young defenseman.
“You can’t really hide or dance around the fact that they outplayed us, but like I said, that’s where the frustration comes in. I feel like when we are at our best, we can beat that team. We just didn’t, and they deserved to win,” Faber said on Wednesday night.
The Wild have made the West Final once in their history. That came back in 2003 when they took on the then-Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Unfortunately, their drought will continue for at least one more season. And the Avalanche will look to win their second West Final of this decade.
