Kolyachonok (BOS) on waivers
If Kolyachonok were to clear waivers on Wednesday, he could be eligible to be assigned to the Bruins’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Providence Bruins.
This is the second time in just over a month that the Belarusian rearguard has been placed on the wire. The Dallas Stars put him on waivers on Dec. 15, with the Bruins claiming him the following day. He came to Boston, which, at the time, was without a couple of defenders due to injury. Yet he has played in just two games for the B’s, both losses to the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres last month. Kolyachonok hasn’t been in the lineup since.
In 13 games thus far, the 24-year-old has scored a goal and two assists for three points, with his last point coming as a member of the Stars back on Dec. 2.
Kolyachonok is in the final season of his two-year contract that he originally signed with the Utah Hockey Club in June 2024. The deal carries a cap hit of $775,000. Since he signed the contract, he has been on the move a couple of times, including being claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins in February 2025. This past July, he was traded to Dallas by the Penguins in exchange for Mathew Dumba and a 2028 draft pick.
In 87 career NHL games, Kolyachonok has scored five goals and 12 assists for 17 points. He has also appeared in 165 AHL games, both regular-season and playoffs, scoring 14 goals and 28 assists for 52 points.
The Bruins (28-19-2) sit fourth in the Atlantic Division, hanging onto the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
