Lukas Reichel is sticking around the Boston Bruins organization.
On Thursday, the team announced that the German left winger had signed a one-year contract through to the end of the 2026-27 season, carrying a salary cap hit of $950,000. It comes after he netted a goal and two assists in 10 NHL games with the Bruins this season, as well as a goal and five assists for six points in four AHL games with the Providence Bruins
The Bruins acquired the Nuremberg, Germany native in a March 6 trade with the Vancouver Canucks, sending a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft in exchange for the 23-year-old, as he joined his third team of the season.
Reichel began the 2025-26 season with the Chicago Blackhawks, before joining the Canucks and further the Bruins. He amassed three goals and five assists for eight points across 29 games, while seeing AHL time in Abbotsford and Providence, totaling seven goals and 12 assists in 27 AHL contests.
Initially the 17th overall draft pick of the Blackhawks in the 2020 NHL Draft, Reichel has developed into a player who has played 198 career NHL games, scoring 23 goals and 39 assists for 62 points. Meanwhile, in the AHL, he has played 148 games, scoring 49 goals and 86 assists for 135 points.
While his spot on the Bruins’ NHL roster is far from certain for 2026-27, he will take on extra hockey before the offseason, set to suit up for Germany at the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland, beginning Friday.
Germany will take on Latvia, the United States, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Great Britain at the tournament, hoping to return to the knockout stages after finishing fifth in pool play in 2025. Germany last podiumed at the World Championship in 2023, falling to Canada in the gold medal game.
