Bruins superstar's struggles continue in loss to Jets

Fans are growing irate over Jeremy Swayman's recent performances. So much so, that calls are growing to trade the superstar goalie.

It appears that the honeymoon between Boston Bruins fans and Jeremy Swayman is overall.

The goalie has played 21 games for the Bruins this season, winning nine with one shutout, and a .885 save percentage. Against the Winnipeg Jets, however, it was even uglier, with a .711 save percentage, while saving 35 of 43 shots on goal.

It goes without saying it's a glaring stat line for someone who was signed as a top-dollar restricted free-agent in the summer.

He was signed to an eight-year, $8.25 million AAV at the beginning of the season, and would miss training camp due to a holdout.

But are Swayman's struggles his own? Sure, he shares some blame, as the goalie hasn't performed up to standards.

This has been a terrible year for the goalie and the Boston Bruins, which are finally experiencing a rebound under new coach Joe Sacco.

The team holds a 15-12-1 record and is 3rd in the Atlantic Division. While Swayman's play hasn't been helped by his teammates, either.

Marchand didn't mince words on the topic either.

"You got to stay sharp [for] 60 minutes, and they punished us," Swayman said postgame. "It's not acceptable, and we had to move forward, and luckily, we have the group to do it."

Following the loss, Bruins captain Brad Marchand was asked if Tuesday was a "night where you feel for your goaltender," given that Joe Sacco didn't pull Swayman for Joonas Korpisalo amid a third-period thrashing

Swayman may have reached a new low last night against the Winnipeg Jets, but there's room for improvement.

It'd be too soon to see Swayman traded, with the amount of capital the Bruins have invested in the No. 1 goalie.

Given the fact they sent Linus Ullmark to Ottawa, they really don't have a choice now, do they?
