Calgary Flames Place Veteran Player on Waivers Despite Two-Point Season Finale Game

Following their last game of the year, the Calgary Flames have placed Dryden Hunt, who had 2 assists, on waivers to send him to the American Hockey League.

The year is over for the Calgary Flames, having fallen just short of claiming what would have been their 1st playoff spot since 2022.

However, they did end the year on a high note with a 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings in their season finale.

Despite picking up a pair of assists, the Flames immediately waived forward Dryden Hunt for the purpose of sending him to the American Hockey League.

It was Hunt's 1st appearance in the NHL since March 22; he appeared in 5 total games and had 3 assists.

The Flames somehow missed the playoffs despite earning 96 points

The Flames finished with a total of 96 points on the year, which was somehow not enough to earn a playoff spot.

To add insult to injury, a pair of Eastern Conference Clubs picked up fewer points and yet are on their way to the playoffs; the New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens both finished with 91 points.

Naturally, it was an extremely disappointing circumstance for GM Craig Conroy.

Here we are with 94 points and not in the playoffs. I would have never thought that at the beginning of the year. But you didn't know St. Louis was going to go on the run they did, and Minnesota played well all year.
It's just so disappointing because I saw how much and how hard they worked. They deserved better. They deserved to be in the playoffs, and unfortunately we're not.

The Flames will start a new year in the fall with the hope of returning to the playoffs for the 1st time in 4 years.
