It’s crazy to think but the Chicago Blackhawks have the opportunity to make history tonight in the Connor Bedard era.
The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings will faceoff tonight at the United Center. For the Hawks, tonight’s game is an opportunity to get one win closer to 500 and an opportunity to win the team’s second home game on the year. More importantly, a win tonight would give the Blackhawks their first three game win streak in the Connor Bedard era.
Drafted first overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, Connor Bedard has played in 81 games over the past two seasons, amassing 25 goals and 73 points during that time. In 13 games this season, Bedard has struggled to find the back of the net with just three goals and nine assists, but even in his second year, he has looked like the best Hawk on the ice.
The Blackhawks had three two game win streaks last season – the first came in December with back to back wins against Anaheim and St. Louis – both at home.
The second came in March against Arizona and Anaheim, both at home, and the third came against San Jose and Calgary. Chicago had just three two game win streaks last season, but this year it took an entirely less month to win the first set of back to back games.
A win tonight would give Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks their first set of six points in three games dating back to February of 2023 — when Patrick Kane was still on the team.
The Blackhawks went on a five game winning streak from Feb. 17 to Feb. 25 in 2023. Kane’s last game as a Blackhawk came on Feb. 22 against the Dallas Stars, it was the Blackhawks fourth win in a row. They would go on to win one more game in San Jose with Kane no longer with the team.
It’s fitting that the Blackhawks could go on their first three game win streak tonight, with Patrick Kane now on the opposing team.
