Canadiens acquire Zac Bolduc from Blues in exchange for Logan Mailloux

The Montreal Canadiens acquired forward Zac Bolduc from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenseman Logan Mailloux.

TSN’s Chris Johnston was the first to confirm the two players were involved in the deal.

Bolduc, 22, scored 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points in 72 regular-season games. In 97 career NHL games, he has 24 goals and 21 assists for 45 points.

Taken with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Bolduc spent four seasons with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic and Quebec Remparts, scoring 145 goals and 145 assists for 290 points in 207 career games.

Mailloux, 22, has appeared in eight career NHL games, scoring two goals and three assists for five points. He spent the majority of the last two seasons in the AHL with the Laval Rocket, scoring 26 goals and 54 assists for 80 points in 135 AHL regular-season games.

Taken No. 31 overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Mailloux spent one full season with the London Knights in 2022-23, scoring 25 goals and 28 assists for 53 points in 59 games. He also had eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points in 21 playoff games.

The Canadiens finished 2024-25 with a 40-31-11 with 91 points, fifth in the Atlantic Division. They clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2021. They were eliminated by the Washington Capitals in five games.

As for the Blues, they recorded a 44-30-8 record with 96 points, fifth in the Central Division and clinching a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. They were eliminated in seven games by the Winnipeg Jets.
