The Montreal Canadiens confirmed on Sunday that forward Kirby Dach has suffered a fractured foot.

According to the Canadiens' announcement, Dach is expected to miss four to six weeks while he recovers from the issue. The update was announced on the team’s official X account.

“Forward Kirby Dach (fractured foot) will be out for 4 to 6 weeks,” the post read.

Dach has tallied five goals and seven points through 15 games this season and was slowly reintegrated into the top six after knee injuries ended each of his past two seasons.

The forward missed three games in mid-October, and this injury is not related to prior issues. He logged 14 minutes, 43 seconds of ice time in Saturday's loss to the Boston Bruins.

Dach's average ice time has been held to 14 minutes per game following offseason surgery, with the forward rotating between the center spot and the wings while featuring on the Habs' second line.

Although this new injury is unrelated to his previous knee surgeries, it extends Dach's streak of injury-plagued campaigns.

Dach has yet to play more than 70 games in an NHL season since debuting in 2019 and has only appeared in more than 60 games twice in his six full NHL seasons.

The 24-year-old is one of several Canadiens players sidelined with long-term issues. Montreal is already without Alex Newhook, who had ankle surgery on Friday and is out for four months, and Kaiden Guhle, who underwent adductor surgery and is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks.

The franchise has recalled winger Joshua Roy from the AHL’s Laval Rocket to make up for Dach's absence. Roy has seven points in 10 AHL games this season and has only one NHL appearance so far in 2025–26.

Roy has 74 points in 98 career AHL games but has yet to find his footing in the NHL, with just 36 regular-season games under his belt in the last two seasons and this season combined.

Montreal (10-6-2) will face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday, with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
