On Thursday, the Montreal Canadiens made a rather risky decision with their young goaltender Jakub Dobes. Some love the boldness, while others don't like this choice at all.
In short, Martin St. Louis decided to send Samuel Montembeault into the fray for their game against the weak Chicago Blackhawks.
The organization confirmed the news via an official statement.
However, this decision hides another one.
You can guess that this will be quite a challenge for young Dobes.
Logic would normally dictate that the No. 1 goaltender faces the stronger team (and the No. 2 faces the weaker team), but no.
The Canadiens have clearly chosen to give another major challenge to Jakub Dobes.
It will be interesting to see how the youngster responds, but he will need to be sensational if he hopes to remain undefeated.
"So, with Sam Montembeault starting against Chicago tomorrow, that likely means Jakub Dobes will be in net against Colorado on Saturday...What do you think about that?"
Let's also recall that in his NHL debut against the Florida Panthers, Jakub Dobes recorded a 34-save shutout.
