Canucks Refusing Low-Ball Offers on Miller, Pettersson Trade

When TSN’s Gino Reda asked NHL insider Darren Dreger if the Vancouver Canucks were willing to take a low-ball offer to trade one of J.T. Miller or Elias Pettersson, Dreger shut that talk down. Saying, “Yeah, not interested in a low-ball offer, it has to be respectable.”

Canucks Might Lose Trade, But Won’t Get Fleeced on Offers

He added:

“You’re talking about two star-quality players here in J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson. You know this ongoing scenario of trying to trade both those guys, or one of those men, has been ongoing for the last couple of months. [Jim] Rutherford talked about the meetings that they’ve had with management, with the coaching staff, with Miller and Pettersson to try and mend a fence, to get these two guys to work and operate in the confines of the team but somewhat on the same page, but haven’t ended up in any form of resolution, which means, now you get to the place where, ya, they’re trying to expedite a trade.”

Still, with the desperate need to one of these players out, it has to be a respectable return, especially for J.T. Miller.

Dreger knows that Miller has a no-move clause and it would be easy for them to crater under the pressure of trying to make a move when he has total control. If the Canucks have to wait until the offseason to do this trade, they will.
