The Vancouver Canucks have selected centre Wilson Bjorck with the 143rd overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Bjorck is a 6’0″ left-shot centreman out of Sweden. He has spent the previous two seasons with the Djurgardens Jr. of the Swedish Jr. Elite league. Through 84 games, Bjorck has scored 37 goals and 54 assists for 91 points. His efforts earned him a promotion to Djurgardens’ big club, where he went pointless through 10 games. Bjorck added one goal and nine points in nine playoff games for Djurgardens Jr. this postseason.
Weighing in at just 165 lbs, the 19-year-old Bjorck will need to bulk up in size to make it at the NHL level. However, by looking at his 98 penalty minutes last season, Bjorck looks to play with a bit of an edge to his game, despite his smaller stature. The Canucks are continuing to bulster the organization’s need for centre depth with this pick, after already selecting Braeden Cootes and Kevin Dervin in this draft.
CanucksArmy’s Dave Hall had this to say about the newest Canucks, Wilson Bjorck:
“He’s an overaged, high motor kid who took off statically while playing alongside his brother, who’s considered a top-ranked prospect next year. He finished third in goals (28), fifth in assists (39) and third in plus/minus (plus–31) to win a J20 title.”
Bjorck is committed to Colorado University of the NCAA for next season.
Director of Scouting Todd Harvey will speak shortly after the draft concludes to discuss all of the Canucks’ Day 2 selections. To hear what Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin had to say after they drafted Braeden Cootes on Day 1, click here!
