The Vancouver Canucks announced that they’ve signed defenseman Guillaume Brisebois to a one-year, $900K contract for the 2026-27 campaign. Despite being his second consecutive one-year deal and his fourth contract with the Canucks, it’ll be the first time that Brisebois has made above the league minimum in his career.
New General Manager Ryan Johnson continues to reward those who played under him with the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks. Drafted with the 66th overall pick of the 2015 NHL Draft, Brisebois has spent the last decade within the Canucks organization.
Unfortunately, while he has dedicated his professional playing career to the Canucks up to this point, it has been a career marred by injuries. During the 2023-24 preseason, Briseboise suffered a concussion that limited him to eight games on the year. In the 2024-25 campaign, Brisebois dealt with multiple injuries that limited him to only 51 games combined between the NHL and AHL. Recently, knee surgery last summer kept Brisebois on Vancouver’s season-opening injured reserve until spring.
Still, the Canucks are continuing to do right by Brisebois as he works his way back from the number of injuries he has faced. Since the beginning of the 2017-18 campaign, Brisebois has scored 17 goals and 67 points in 306 AHL contests with a +38 rating, and one goal and three points in 30 NHL contests with a -7 rating.
