In 613 NHL games, Beauvillier has scored 129 goals and 137 assists for 266 points. The 5-foot-11 forward brings 55 games of playoff experience to Washington, including a goal and an assist in six games for the Nashville Predators last season. Beauvillier moved from the basement of the Metropolitan Division to the penthouse, switching from Pittsburgh (24-30-10) to Washington (40-14-8). The Capitals (88 points) have a 10-point lead in the standings over the Carolina Hurricanes (78 points) at the NHL Trade Deadline.
Last year, the first-round draft pick was traded from the Chicago Blackhawks to Nashville at the NHL’s trade freeze for a fifth-round selection. He has rebounded to form with 20 points in 63 games for Pittsburgh this season. He averaged 13:00 time on ice per game (TOI/G) for the Penguins, slightly down from his career average of 15:06. The forward found success with some stability in one city after playing a handful of games in three different cities last season – Vancouver (22 games), Chicago (23), and Nashville (21).
The Capitals send their second-round draft pick in 2025 to Pittsburgh in the transaction. Washington will now have one pick in each of the first five rounds of the NHL Draft without any additional transactions – Capitals (1st), Boston Bruins (2nd), Hurricanes (3rd), Capitals (4th), Capitals (5th). Washington has traded away their sixth and seventh-round choices in 2025.
Pittsburgh adds to its assets at the front end of the 2025 NHL Draft. The Penguins have two first-round picks, one second round, and three third-round picks in the top 100 selections this summer.
