Capitals trade defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler to Devils for third-round pick

The Washington Capitals traded defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a third-round pick, the team announced Sunday:

Siegenthaler appeared in only seven games for the Capitals this season and didn't record a single point. He'll be hoping to play more with the Devils, who could use some defensive depth.

The Capitals selected the left-shot defenseman in the second round of the 2015 draft. In 97 games played, he has notched two goals and 11 assists for 13 points.

Siegenthaler joins a defense unit that includes P.K. Subban, Will Butcher, Dmitry Kulikov, Ryan Murray, Damon Severson and Ty Smith.
