Since sending the letter to fans, announcing their path toward rebuilding. Fans and media have been speculating on which pieces Chris Drury would start trading off the roster.

On Monday evening, Drury sent Carson Soucy to the New York Islanders in exchange for a 2026 3rd round pick.

Soucy is a pending unrestricted free agent carrying a $3.2m cap hit. Soucy has 8 points this season and averages 17 minutes per game.

With the addition of Soucy, the Islanders solidify their left-shot defense. While this may be just a depth defense addition for the Isles. Adding Soucy to a lineup that can play him in sheltered minutes could benefit his play overall.

Islanders Time To Buy

With the Metro Division having a clear frontrunner and a murky middle. The Islanders find themselves third in the division, with Philadelphia and Washington four points back. Not to mention a hungry Devils roster.

Mathieu Darche has decided that this year’s roster has earned the right to become a buyer in the 2026 Trade Deadline.

Jumping into the buyers market early gives Darche’s squad more time to gather points in the standings and see if any additional tweaks can be made.

After winning the first overall pick and selecting Matthew Schaefer, this would be quite the unexpected playoff run on the Island.
