Chicago Blackhawks Hire New Coach Following Horrendous Season

The Chicago Blackhawks had two Head Coaches this past season, and now, it appears they've landed the coach they believe can lead them into the future.

With Connor Bedard, Spencer Knight and Artyom Levshunov leading the way, the Chicago Blackhawks seemingly have a very bright future, but one key element that they've been missing since the arrival of the 2023 No. 1 overall pick has been a capable Head Coach.

Back in December, the team fired Head Coach Luke Richardson after a poor start, but things didn't get much better after they turned to Anders Sorenson, with the team coming into this off-season looking for a new bench boss.

While they weren't in conversations to land any of the big names, the team wanted to find someone that could grow at the NHL level with their young core, and now, they've reportedly found their man.

Following speculation from Wednesday, Pierre LeBrun has now confirmed that the team will hire Jeff Blashill as their next Head Coach after he spent 537 games coaching the struggling Detroit Red Wings between 2015 and 2022.

In that time, Blashill had a record of 204-261-72, but at the age of 51, the Blackhawks believe he's the man that can help unlock the talent of this young core and potentially lead them back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

After missing out on the big names like David Carle, Rick Tocchet and Mike Sullivan, there wasn't many options left for Chicago, but with the talent in place and the addition of more young names potentially on the way, we will have to wait and see if Blashill can be the coach to get them back to the post-season once more.
