Claude Giroux plays 1,000th and possibly final game with Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers honored Claude Giroux on Thursday night for his 1,000th game with the team. According to multiple reports, it was likely his last.

Giroux, 34, was a first-round pick for the Flyers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and has spent his entire career with the team. On Thursday night, Philadelphia pulled out all the stops to celebrate Giroux before a 5-4 win against the Nashville Predators.

The NHL trade deadline is Monday and Giroux is expected to be dealt by the Flyers. With a trade appearing imminent, Giroux is not traveling with the team for a Friday night game against the Ottawa Senators, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

One report indicated that the Florida Panthers are finalizing a deal to acquire Giroux, but another report said no deal is in place yet.
