The Colorado Avalanche today joined the free agency chaos as they signed veteran Brent Burns to a one-year deal with a $1 million AAV. The contract does include a games-played bonus that could reach as high as $3 million AAV. Burns in 82 games this season had 29 points on six goals and 23 assists. He was a plus-seven and had three power-play points.

Burns has played in 1,497 career games, recording 910 points on 261 goals and 649 assists. He is a career +11 with 322 career power-play points. Burns has 1,721 blocked shots and 1,391 career hits on his resume. Burns won the Norris Trophy in 2016-17 when in 82 games he had a career high 76 points on a career high 29 goals along with 47 assists. He was a +19 with 25 power-play points. Burns had 142 blocked shots with 69 hits. Burns is a three-time All-Star, and despite his lengthy career with some very good teams, he has yet to win a Stanley Cup. Hoping to reverse that with a team like the Colorado Avalanche. Colorado will be his fourth team in his 22-season illustrious career, having played for the Hurricanes, San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild, and now the Avalanche.
