Colton Parayko Set to Make Franchise History Tonight

Tonight, when the St. Louis Blues host the San Jose Sharks for their home opener, Blues’ defenseman Colton Parayko will make history. Parayko when tonight’s game begins will be playing in his 804th career NHL game.

That will move him into second place in most games played in franchise history trailing Bernie Federko’s 927. He will pass Barret Jackman to become the all-time leader among defenseman in games played in franchise history.

The game also comes 11 years to the date of his NHL debut which came against the Edmonton Oilers. He didn’t record his first career point until two games later when he scored two goals in a 4-3 win over the Flames on October 13, 2015. He finished eighth in Calder Memorial Trophy voting in his rookie season.

The St. Louis Blues drafted Parayko 86th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He has recorded 314 career points on 81 goals and 233 assists. He’s a career +60 with 17 power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, and 20 game-winning goals. He has 1,567 career blocked shots, and 1,041 hits.

Parayko won the Stanley Cup in 2019 with the Blues. He had 12 points in the Cup run and was a plus-six. He’s appeared in 89 career playoff games recording 38 points on 11 goals and 27 assists. He is a +13 with three power-play goals. He has 167 blocked shots and 129 total hits.
