Conflicting Reports Emerging on Mitch Marner's Odds of Signing With One Pacific Team

Mitch Marner has been strongly linked to the Los Angeles Kings in free agency, but recent reports have been highly conflicting over his odds of landing there.

Mitch Marner's free agency decision is going to define the 2025 NHL off-season, and unsurprisingly, there are plenty of teams willing to give him a huge deal as they look to add the biggest available free agent in the NHL.

One of the teams that have been reportedly interested in Marner is the Los Angeles Kings as they look to add talent to an already talented, Stanley Cup Playoffs team, with the goal of getting past the Edmonton Oilers in the first-round.

Reportedly, the interest between Marner and the Kings was mutual, with some expecting them to be one of the final five teams involved in talks, with Toronto, Florida, Vegas and even Anaheim among that group too.

Now however, a report from the NHL Draft Combine has completely shifted that narrative, with Cam Robinson from Elite Prospects having this to say about the star forward's connections to LA from what he was hearing.

'One source close to the ground floor on the situation had this to say on Los Angeles being the front-runner, 'That Marner to LA report is pure rubbish.''

On paper, the fit makes complete sense, as LA would give Marner some sense of anonymity (at least compared to Toronto), while also allowing him to join a constant Stanley Cup Playoffs team in need of a big injection of talent.

Ultimately, things could change in a heartbeat, with some teams potentially willing to offer Marner $14 million annually, with that money playing a big factor in where he ends up, and while some think he could end up in LA, others don't see it as a possibility at all, so now we wait and see where the Maple Leafs superstar ends up.
