Just when things couldn’t get any worse, the Chicago Blackhawks have lost their superstar for the foreseeable future. According to reports, Connor Bedard underwent shoulder surgery and will miss the next four months of hockey activities.
Assuming his recovery goes according to plan, Bedard should return to game action sometime in late November for the Hawks.
Team physician Dr. Michael Terry said the following regarding Bedard’s health.
“This morning, forward Connor Bedard underwent successful surgery to repair his left shoulder. We expect him to make a full recovery in an approximate timeline of four months.”
Although the statement is fairly vague regarding what the exact injury was, having a concrete timeline on Bedard’s recovery is important as the team gears up for the season.
Bedard awkwardly injured his shoulder in offseason training up in Vancouver. After days of silence, there is a clear return date for Bedard.
One thing to monitor is how this will impact contract talks. Frankly, Bedard should still get paid like the superstar he is despite the setback. However, how this effects the timeline for a new contract remains to be seen.
