Team USA's goaltending heading into the Olympics is strong, and now the reigning Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck has opened up on it.
Heading into the 2026 Olympic Games, Team USA are considered one of the major favourites, with this team being more loaded than any team in United States hockey history.
One of the biggest reasons for that is their goaltending, with the team leaving off the likes of Thatcher Demko and Dustin Wolf from their Olympic Camp roster, showing just how deep they are in net.
Now, reigning MVP and Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck has opened up on that battle, revealing that between he, Jake Oettinger and Jeremy Swayman, there's complete camaraderie as they look to be the starter for Team USA.
'That's always the hardest problem with being a goalie. There are multiple guys but only one net. It's just a complete camaraderie. Obviously, playing against those guys, it's always fun. I'm always asking them what they've been doing, how they've been critiquing their game, getting better. And we've really been able to bump ideas and obviously raise our level and play with each other, and that's something we're really excited about and understand.'
Right now, it's likely that Hellebuyck is the favourite for the role, but with so many studs battling for a spot behind him, Team USA will play with full confidence no matter who is in net.
Heading into the Olympics, Team USA are seen as a major favourite, and with their goaltending thriving as of late, if they can make their way to the gold medal matchup, we could be seeing one of the all-time great showdowns awaiting.
