Connor Hellebuyck Named First Star of the Week

Connor Hellebuyck has backstopped the Winnipeg Jets for over 500 games, including his ascent to the third-fastest goaltender in NHL history to reach the 300-win milestone.

He has continued to dominate the crease with 40 career shutouts, and this week, he posted a win-loss record of 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average (GAA), a .960 save percentage (SV%), and one shutout to help the Winnipeg Jets (29-12-3, 61 points) widen the gap for their lead in the Central Division.

This is the second time this season that Hellebuyck has received the recognition as the NHL’s First star of the Week and the third time that he’s been a part of the NHL’s Star of the Week group.

There is reason to say that Connor Hellebuyck is in the race for the Hart Trophy this year as his numbers are something to continue watching.

Hellebuyck has played 34 games this season with a win-loss record of 26-6-2 with six shutouts. He’s complemented this play with a 2.02 GAA and an SV% of .928.

Throughout his career, Hellebucyk has been nominated to the NHL’s All-Star team twice (2019 & 2024) while also securing two Vezina Trophies (2020 & 2024) and one Jennings Trophy (2024). Hellebuyck has been a runner-up for the Vezina Trophy on two separate occasions.

The reigning Vezina Trophy winner is looking to add more hardware to his resume as both Hellebuyck and the Jets are on a wild run this year as they battle for first in the NHL’s standings.

Both the Jets and Hellebuyck will look to continue this play over the coming weeks as the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline looms and the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs get closer.
