Lauren Kyle, wife of Connor McDavid, was brought to tears regarding Connor Brown's departure from Edmonton, leading fans to speculate he could be signing soon.

As Connor Brown signed a four-year, $12 million deal with the New Jersey Devils, officially closing the book on his Edmonton Oilers career, his goodbye message on Instagram prompted more than just farewells.

'Thank you to the fans for two incredible years and unwavering support. Edmonton will always hold a very special place in our hearts,' Brown wrote. 'Ready for a new chapter and excited to be a devil.'

Among the responses, a touching remark from Connor McDavid's fiancee, Lauren Kyle, immediately attracted attention, garnering thousands of likes and fueling broad speculation among fans.

Though most took Kyle's message as a heartwarming acknowledgement of Connor Brown's stint in Edmonton, others saw it from a different perspective, that of a potential clue into McDavid's future.

As the Oilers captain is heading into the last year of his deal, some speculated that Kyle's statement was a subtle indication that Connor McDavid would sign long-term with the club.
