This just in, Edmonton Oilers' Corey Perry has now played more playoff games than every single NHL franchise this century, and no, this isn't a typo.

At 40, Corey Perry is still stirring it up in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. After the Edmonton Oilers' 6-3 Game 1 Western Conference Final loss to the Dallas Stars, Perry showed his trademark fire, taking down 21-year-old , 6-foot-7 rookie Lian Bichsel to the ice in a postgame scrum.

It took two officials to pry them apart, but not before Perry got in a few chirps. Game 2 was another tale, with the Oilers blanking the Stars 3-0, and Perry once more made his presence felt.

'You know, you play this game to win, and sometimes you get [ticked] off, and things happen,' Perry said Thursday. 'I'm not going to lie.'

Perry isn't the guy who tallied 50 goals to pace the NHL and win the Hart Trophy in 2011, but he isn't done yet. He scored 19 goals this season in a fourth-line role, with only four of them on the power play.

Perry is near the top of his team in goals in the playoffs

In the playoffs, he's heated up again, tied for second on the team with five goals. His two power-play goals have him tied for the Edmonton lead in that category.

Amazingly, Perry has now dressed for more playoff games this century than any NHL team. Yes, you read that right, more than every single NHL franchise.

That longevity is no accident, as he's made a practice of deep spring runs, playing in the Cup Final four of the last five years, though he hasn't won it since 2007 with the Ducks.

Now, 18 years from his initial championship, Perry is chasing another. For a player who's tasted victory and heartbreak, this run might be his last chance.

At 40, he's still battling like he's 20, and showing why no team should underestimate Mr. Perry in May and June.
