Could Sharks Ruin Blackhawks Plan if No. 2 Pick is Traded?

According to reports from the 2025 NHL Draft, the San Jose Sharks are reportedly exploring the market for their second overall pick in the annual event. In return, the Sharks are looking for a young, established NHL talent if they were to move on from the pick.

The Sharks finished as the worst team in the NHL last season, but the ping pongs ball of the draft lottery weren't so kind to the Sharks. The New York Islanders snuck up to the top pick, and San Jose had to settle for No. 2. That said, one of Anton Frondell or Michael Misa are a fine addition to their lineup.

That said, reports of the Sharks liking Frondell enough to take him at two have circulated through the rumor mill. Whether or not they're a smokescreen remains to be seen. But, if the Chicago Blackhawks have a chance to acquire Misa at the third overall pick, it would be a dream come true for Chicago.

If the Sharks move the pick, that likely ruins that chance. Unless other teams are fully in love with Frondell as a prospect, Misa is the likely candidate to go. Now, if the Sharks stay put, they could easily ruin the Blackhawks' hopes either way, as TSN's Elliotte Friedman is reportedly "pouring cold water" on the chances of Misa slipping past the second pick.

A lot of chaos could potentially ensue between now and the time the Blackhawks select on Friday night. Regardless, the Blackhawks should come out of this draft better than they did walking in.
