Coyotes’ Alexander Kerfoot reached major milestone vs. Maple Leafs
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Amid a losing streak, the Arizona Coyotes have something to celebrate. Alexander Kerfoot has played an impressive 500 career games for the NHL.

Career Rundown

Starting his NHL career with the Colorado Avalanche in 2017, Kerfoot hit the ground running. He spent two years with the Avalanche, playing a total of 157 games and accumulating 85 points. He was then picked up by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2019.

It was during his four-season stay with the Maple Leafs that Kerfoot blossomed as a player. The greatest growth was between the 2020-21 season and the 2021-22 season. The number of shots he took at the cage doubled, along with his goals and assists. By the end of his time with the Maple Leafs, Kerfoot participated in a total of 442 NHL games.

Kerfoot signed on with the Coyotes in 2023 and has become the player the Coyotes head coach, André Tourigny, relies on to do well with any position. Currently, Kerfoot is receiving more play time, by an additional three minutes per game with the Coyotes than with his previous teams.

58 games later, Kerfoot achieved the monumental milestone.

What Now?

There are still 23 more games remaining for the Coyotes in the 2024 NHL season. If all goes well, and no injuries occur, then Kerfoot will end April with just under 525 games in his repertoire.

The Coyotes have consistently been losing games. Unfortunately, there was no break in the streak for Kerfoot’s 500th game. They are currently on their 14th loss in a row. They will play against the Ottawa Senators on Friday, March 1st at 5 p.m. MST.

In their previous game against the Senators, the Coyotes won 4-3. Hopefully, this upcoming game will be the one to break the losing streak.
