Daily Faceoff draft guru Steven Ellis has published his final mock draft for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, and with it, we have the final projection of who the Vancouver Canucks will select at 15th overall.
Here’s what Ellis wrote about the Canucks and the fit for Carbonneau at 15:
Carbonneau doesn’t seem to get enough love for the season he just had. He scored 46 goals and 89 points while boasting one of the best shots in the draft class. He’s known for making high-end moves and can beat most players in 1-on-1 situations. The upside is massive here, but he can be prone to giving the puck away too easily and doesn’t engage much physically. Still, with the right players around him, Carbonneau looks like a future first-line winger who can score 30 goals a season. With the Canucks likely moving on from Brock Boeser, this would be a perfect way to fill the gap.
Carboneau was also a player our resident prospect expert Dave Hall wrote a profile on as an option for the Canucks at 15. Here is some of what Dave wrote:
With some of the best hands in the draft – perhaps the best – the Quebec native blends an intriguing mixture of high-end skill and power elements. His highlight package is one of the more thrilling among this entire draft, let alone the mid-stages of the first round.
When offensive chances arise, Carbonneau is typically at the centre of it all. He lives to produce points and can do so in various ways. Rushing up the ice, he shows tremendous speed and views the ice well with his head always up in transition.
The crafty right-shot winger finished his draft-eligible season tied for second in the QMJHL in goal totals (46), while sitting second leaguewide with 89 points, firing at an impressive 1.44 point-per-game clip.
Among the entire crop of 2025 eligibles, he finished third in goals and fifth in point totals. He uses his powerful stride and delicate hands to blow by defenders or his strength to drop the shoulder and power through his check. He’s not afraid to get physical, giving him a considerable advantage when transitioning to the next level.

Of course, there is still certainly a chance we see the Canucks move the 15th overall pick ahead of today’s draft. After all, they’re still searching for that top six centre they made it clear they needed to find this offseason. Given that Jim Rutherford also said the Canucks would have most of their work done before free agency, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some activity from the Canucks today.
