The Dallas Stars advanced to the Western Conference Finals on Saturday, but after the game, Peter DeBoer shouted out Mark Scheifele for his strength.

Just hours before Game 6, Mark Scheifele suffered the heartbreaking loss of his father , who tragically passed away, with many not expecting him to play in the must-win Game 6 for the Winnipeg Jets.

He did just that however, and while it was the Stars who came out on top 2-1 in overtime, Scheifele would score the only goal of the game for Winnipeg in an incredibly emotional moment that had the team and the fans teary eyed for the moment.

After the game, Peter DeBoer, Dallas Stars Head Coach quickly began his press conference by giving him a major shoutout, crediting the strength and courage of Scheifele to play through what he did despite all of the emotions that would have been involved.

«I'm sure his dad would've been really proud of him and what he did.»

While it was ultimately the Stars that came out on top, Scheifele's incredibly strength to even take the ice, but play a fantastic game goes a long way to show just what a strong, courageous person and a player that he is.

In response to this tragic passing, Stars fans have taken it upon themselves to start donating $55 to Scheifele's charities, showing that sometimes, it's bigger than hockey as the fans continue to show their class for this tough situation.

Ultimately though, it's the Dallas Stars moving on to face the Edmonton Oilers for the second straight year in the Western Conference Finals, as they'll now look to slow down that rolling juggernaut if they are to finally make a Stanley Cup run as a team that we've been waiting on for the past few years.
