Pete DeBoer left the Dallas Stars in controversial fashion this off-season, and now, the team are set to hire an intriguing new coach for the role.

The Dallas Stars made it to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight year in 2025, but unfortunately they once again fell to the Edmonton Oilers in controversial fashion.

In Game 6, the Stars pulled Jake Oettinger early, and after the game, Head Coach Peter DeBoer threw him under the bus, with that act being enough to get him fired by the organization.

Now, weeks later, the team are narrowing down their next Head Coach, and according to Elliotte Friedman, they're set to hire a face that is very familiar to the Dallas Stars franchise.

Between 2011 and 2013, Glen Gulutzan was behind the Stars bench, following with a stint in Calgary before becoming an Oilers assistant for the past seven years, and now, he's set to get his next opportunity as a Head Coach in the National Hockey League.

TSN's Darren Dreger followed up this report by noting that he's already been offered the job, and now, the two parties are simply negotiating how a contract would look as the team seek to finally get over the hump and make it to the Stanley Cup Finals with this loaded squad.

In Gulutzan, the Stars would be getting a very experienced coach that has been in a winning organization for years, and at 53-years of age, he's experienced enough while also being young enough to grow with the organization moving forward, so for now, we'll see how this move pays off for a team on the verge of a deep post-season run.
