This morning, news hit that 28-year-old forward Daniel Sprong is signing with CSKA Moskva of the KHL. Sprong played for 30 games in the NHL this past season between the Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Kraken, and New Jersey Devils. He had seven points on two goals and five assists. He was a minus-one with a power-play goal, a game-winning goal, and two penalty minutes. Sprong also appeared in 19 games for Coachella Valley in the AHL, recording 25 points on 11 goals and 14 assists. He was even in plus/minus with three power-play goals, four game-winning goals, and six penalty minutes.

The Pittsburgh Penguins drafted Sprong 46th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He’s played in 374 career NHL games with the Kraken, Devils, Canucks, Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, and Anaheim Ducks. He has totaled 166 points with 87 goals and 79 assists. He is a minus-three with 15 power-play goals, 12 game-winning goals, and 68 penalty minutes. In 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games, he has three points on a goal and two assists. He is a minus-four with a power-play goal and four penalty minutes.
He’s also played in 128 career AHL games with the Firebirds, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, San Diego Gulls, and Hershey Bears. He has 123 points on 55 goals and 66 assists.
