Nurse’s contract has been an area of contention over the past few years, as his play hasn’t met the lofty expectations that come with the $9.25 million cap hit. His name has been in trade talks for months, but it will likely cost the Oilers to shed his contract.
Rebuilding teams such as the San Jose Sharks and the Chicago Blackhawks are names to watch, as both have cap space to work with and are in need of veteran talent.
Nurse has given the Oilers a list of teams he would like to be moved to.
