Detroit Red Wings Re-Sign Patrick Kane

The Detroit Red Wings have had quite a productive day today first trading Vladimir Tarasenko to the Minnesota Wild as well as re-signing defenseman Albert Johansson as well as forward Jonatan Berggren. To keep things going this evening they have now re-signed forward Patrick Kane to a one-year deal worth $3 million with $2.5 million in potential bonuses. Kane this season in 72 games had 59 points on 21 goals and 38 assists. He was a -16 and had 29 power-play points. The bonuses break down to $2.5 million for ten games played, and $250,000 each for 30 and 50 games played. If the Red Wings reach the playoffs he will make $500,000. If they move on from round one he will get another $250,000 and if they advance past round two it’ll be another $250,000.

The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Kane first overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. In 1,302 career games, he has 1,343 points on 492 goals and 851 assists. He is a career even for plus/minus and has 446 power-play points Kane won three Stanley Cup Championships, and was a Calder Memorial Trophy winner in 2007-08. Kane was the Conn Smythe winner in 2012-13 as well as the Art Ross winner in 2015-16 as well as the Hart Trophy that same season. He was also named to the NHL’s 100th Anniversary Team.
