Detroit Red Wings Trade Defenseman

The Detroit Red Wings continue to be active today starting with a trade involving the Nashville Predators in which Andrew Gibson was traded away for a Jesse Kiiskinen and a draft pick. Now they’ve made a head-scratching trade as they have traded away defenseman Jake Walman and the draft pick, they acquired in the trade with the Predators to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Future Considerations.

Jake Walman By The Numbers

Walman was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft with the 82nd overall pick. He spent the first two and a half seasons with the Blues playing in 57 games recording eight points on four goals and four assists, he was a minus-three. He was traded to the Red Wings along with Oskar Sundqvist in exchange for Nick Leddy and Luke Witkowski. With Detroit he played in 145 games recording 43 points on 21 goals and 22 assists, he was a plus-two; he recorded seven points on the power play coming on a goal and five assists. Last season he played in 63 games recording 21 points on 12 goals and nine assists, he was a minus-two; he had four points on the power play coming on a goal and three assists. Walman will be remembered for his game-winning goal celebrations for the Red Wings last season.
