The New Jersey Devils are making multiple coaching changes after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs this year.

Many fans expected the New Jersey Devils to be contenders for the Stanley Cup this year.

Unfortunately, injuries hindered their season as they finished with 91 points, which was just enough to snag the 3rd spot in the division.

However, the team was no match for the Carolina Hurricanes, who easily defeated them in five games in the first round of the playoffs.

The Devils' only win came in double overtime in game three.

To be fair to the Devils though, injuries once again plagued the team in the series.

That being said, it is clear that the team's management, lead by general manager Tom Fitzgerald, are not happy with the way the season played out.

As a result, the team made a surprise announcement today, revealing some major changes to their coaching staff.

It appears as though head coach Sheldon Keefe will remain in that position, but assist coaches Ryan McGill and Chris Taylor have been relieved of their duties.

The organization also announced some changes to their AHL coaching staff as well.

'The New Jersey Devils today announced that the team will not renew the contracts of Assistant Coaches Ryan McGill and Chris Taylor.

Additionally, the contracts of Head Video Coach Jerry Dineen and Utica Comets Assistant Coach David Cunniff also will not be renewed.'

The Devils are a team that are expected to be much better in the coming years as their young core matures and gains experience in the league.

Hopefully these changes to the coaching staff will aid them in their goal of winning a Stanley Cup.
