Dickinson Not on Ice for Oilers, Updated Status for Game 2

As the Edmonton Oilers took a full roster pre-game skate on Wednesday ahead of Game 2 versus the Anaheim Ducks, one key player was not on the ice. Jason Dickinson was noticeably absent from the on-ice session.

Josh Samanski, who was a healthy scratch in Game 1, skated with Trent Frederic and Colton Dach. It looks like he’ll be in the lineup. However, that change might be due to Adam Henrique being unavailable for Game 2 following an injury in Game 1. Curtis Lazar is taking reps in Dickinson’s spot, but the former may still be in tonight.

Dickinson scored twice in Edmonton’s 4-3 win over Anaheim on Monday. However, there was a moment in the game where he fell awkwardly during a faceoff and hobbled off the ice. He did return, eventually netting his second of two goals to tie the game. Dickinson seemed OK at that point, and Wednesday’s absence might be rest-related.

The Oilers did not skate on Tuesday.

If the Oilers have to go without Dickinson and Henrique for Game 2, it will be a hurdle. That’s the team’s top options for depth centers on line three and four.
