The Carolina Hurricanes are perhaps one of the most underrated teams in the league, but they’re making their presence known with an impressive point streak. The team’s identity over the past few years has been defined by an overwhelming amount of skill and finesse, two assets that seem to be the answer this season.

The team still has plenty of tests to pass with just over 20 games to go, but the Hurricanes have the tools to make a run this season. How they hold up will depend on a few key players showing up when it matters, but their stars seem up to the challenge heading into March.

Sebastian Aho Is Leading The Way Through Scoring In Carolina

Sebastian Aho has emerged as the player of the future for Carolina, cementing his place with scoring ability and finesse. The 28-year-old has been one of the more underrated players across the NHL in the past few years, given the attention on guys like McDavid and MacKinnon. Nevertheless, Aho has made his mark in Raleigh.

The Finnish native has been the driving force for the Hurricanes for much of this season, with 59 points through 59 games. Playing at a point-per-game average is an insanely impressive campaign, and Aho’s individual performance has made a world of difference for Carolina. The center has proven that he can do it all, which will be an important factor in the Hurricanes’ playoff outlook, considering how much the offense will rely on him.

If anyone is up to the task for Carolina, it’s Aho. How he responds to the pressure that will be on him is a major question, but his demeanor suggests he can handle the bright lights of the playoffs.

Seth Jarvis Using Experience To His Advantage For Hurricanes

Although young, Seth Jarvis has played in a handful of big games that could help him handle the pressure of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 24-year-old recently suited up for Team Canada at the Olympics as a replacement after playing for the team in last year’s 4 Nations Face-Off. Jarvis’s experience will be key for the Hurricanes as they inch towards playoff hockey, where they will take on teams aiming to take advantage of their playing style.

Jarvis has become a major part of a surging Carolina offense that leads the Metropolitan Division, giving fans a glimpse into the future of Hurricanes hockey. The center has amassed 46 points in 51 games, including a team-leading 26 goals during his fifth NHL season. The Winnipeg native will only get more comfortable in the spotlight as Carolina heads into the playoffs, where he will likely be a major contributor.

Carolina’s Andrei Svechnikov And Nikolaj Ehlers Are Making It Happen

Andrei Svechnikov and Nikolaj Ehlers have stayed under the radar for the Hurricanes for much of the 2025-26 season, but the two veterans have made their mark.

Svechnikov, 25, has been a mainstay for Carolina since his debut in 2018-19, and the right-winger has improved year over year to the Hurricanes’ benefit. The veteran has taken a bit of a backseat in Carolina’s system this season due to the addition of Ehlers and the emergence of Jarvis, but his value cannot be understated. Svechnikov’s 51 points in 58 games stand for the second-most on the team behind Aho, showcasing his ability to still contribute in a different role.

Ehlers, in his first season with the Hurricanes, has been everything the team hoped for. The left-winger hasn’t lost a step in his transition from Winnipeg to Carolina, and the team has reaped the benefits. The 30-year-old has 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists) through 58 games, and has been a great supporting player for guys like Jarvis and Aho, who run the offense. Ehlers has the ability to play multiple roles, which is what makes him so valuable in a system like Carolina’s.

End Of My Carolina Hurricanes Rant

The Hurricanes have been seemingly underrated for most of the season, and that might change now that they’re starting to beat contenders consistently. The team has a lot of offense at their disposal and a system that is working well; that’s a dangerous combination for anyone that faces them.
