Poehling, 27, has seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points through 54 games with the Ducks this season.
Anaheim acquired Poehling, along with a 2025 second-round pick (that turned into center Eric Nilson) and a 2026 fourth-round pick from the Philadelphia Flyers this past offseason in exchange for forward Trevor Zegras.
Initially selected 25th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Poehling played 85 games over three seasons with the Canadiens, putting up 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points, before getting dealt along with defenseman Jeff Petry to the Pittsburgh Penguins for defenseman Mike Matheson and a fourth-round pick ahead of the 2022-23 season.
The Lakeville, Minnesota native played just one season in Pittsburgh, notching seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 53 games before signing with the Flyers as an unrestricted free agent ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Poehling saw his production improve in Philadelphia. In 2023-24, he tallied 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points. Last season, he scored 12 goals and added 19 assists for a career-best 31 points.
After taking care of Poehling, the Ducks hope to have their center position secured for the foreseeable future, with youngsters Leo Carlsson and Mason McTavish as their first- and second-line pivots.
With 71 points through 61 games, Anaheim sits second in the Pacific Division, just a point back of the first-placed Vegas Golden Knights.
The Ducks will host the Canadiens on Friday, before welcoming the St. Louis Blues on Sunday to finish up a seven-game homestand.
