Dylan Holloway was discarded by the Oilers last summer, and for the first time, he's now addressed the team not matching the offer sheet that saw him in St. Louis.
Last summer, the NHL saw their first offer sheet in quite some time, with the St. Louis Blues handing the Edmonton Oilers not one but two, with the team deciding not to match on either Dylan Holloway or Philip Broberg.
The two players would go on to have fantastic first seasons for the surprising Blues, and now, one of them has officially addressed the Oilers for the first time in a recent interview.
During an appearance on the Cam and Strick podcast, Calgary native Dylan Holloway addressed the Oilers decision, noting how he was all in on St. Louis after the Oilers disrespect.
It rubbed me the wrong way how little Edmonton thought of me in our contract negotiations I'm an Alberta boy, I wanted to go back to a team we went so far with but as soon as Edmonton didn't reciprocate that feeling I was all in on St. Louis.
In his first season with the Blues, Holloway dominated, tallying 26 goals and 63 points in 77 games played, and with the Oilers needing that speed and pure goal scoring ability, in hindsight, GM Stan Bowman may have made a different decision.
Ultimately though, the decision was made and now both players have futures in St. Louis, but given the changes that the Oilers made this off-season, there's no doubting they would love to have Holloway on their current roster.
