Washington Capitals’ forward Dylan Strome spoke with the media after a win over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night, saying, “I’ve got some news for everyone.” He went on to explain, “My warrior of a wife had our third daughter while we were on the ice, so… I’m really proud of her. It’s tough, and you want to be there for the birth of your children and didn’t know it was coming this soon, but can’t wait to go see her. Sutton Kimberly Strome was born at 7:30 today.”
Congratulations to Dylan and Tayler Strome on welcoming their third child tonight!

Strome said he found out, and he wanted to get home but knew there was no way to be there in time to see his third daughter born. “There was nothing I could do to get back,” he said. “Just really proud of her. It’s not easy. … For her to do that herself, it’s unbelievable.”
Instead, he said a prayer with Jakob Chychrun before the game for his wife and played the game. It was hard to stay focused, he noted. “There was just so many emotions going through my mind… the guys were right there with me and they knew what was going on.”
Congratulations to Dylan Strome, his wife, and his family and friends. That everyone is in good health is the most important takeaway from the news and Strome says he can’t wait to get home to see everyone.
Strome has gotten off to another strong start this season, posting five goals and 20 points in 19 games. He’s coming off a career year, scoring 29 goals and 82 points in 2024-25.
