It appears that an Eastern Conference team has their eyes set on trying to land Oilers' Corey Perry in free agency today, as the signing period opens at 12 PM ET.

With free agency just hours away, Corey Perry's future with the Edmonton Oilers remains one of the most intriguing storylines to watch heading into today.

While the 40-year-old winger has expressed interest in re-signing, mounting salary cap constraints and roster priorities suggest the Oilers could be walking away.

Now, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has stated that the Philadelphia Flyers are a team that seems to have an interest in signing the 40-year-old Perry.

Perry, who scored 19 goals and 30 points in 81 regular-season games last year before adding an additional 10 goals and 14 points during Edmonton's playoff run, proved he could still contribute when it matters most.

Despite limited minutes, his leadership and postseason experience made him a valuable asset for the Oilers' deep run in the last two years.

If it doesn't work with Philadelphia, then LA and Dallas could be suitors

In a surprising twist, if Edmonton cannot retain Perry, NHL insider Jeff Marek believes the Los Angeles Kings and Dallas Stars are the two destinations other than Philadelphia that are believed to be in contention for him.

With younger talent rising and the organization looking to improve its speed, the Oilers' future may not include the aging Perry. The organization faces tough decisions about how to allocate its remaining resources and maintain an even roster.
