The Adirondack Thunder have signed forward Michael Herrera to an ECHL contract prior to their three-game set vs Atlanta Gladiators. Herrera, 23, has nine goals and nine assists for 18 points in 37 games with three different SPHL teams this season. His best numbers came with his most recent team, the Macon Mayhem, where he has eight goals and eight assists for 16 points in 24 games. Herrera made his ECHL debut last season with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, where he had six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 30 games. I would expect him to slot in on the bottom six for the weekend series in Atlanta.

The Syracuse, NY, native spent the majority of his junior and college career close to home as he’s played in 58 games in the NCDC with the Utica Jr. Comets, where he had 32 goals and 22 assists for 54 points. 31 of those goals came during the 2022-23 season as he led the league in goals while serving as the team’s captain. Herrera has also played parts of four seasons at the NCAA D III level. He played 11 games at Nazerth College for 2020-22, where he had a goal and two assists. After his stellar season in the NCDC, he spent the following two seasons at Utica University. In 40 games with the Pioneers, he had 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points. The Pioneers won the UCHC Championship in 2024.
