ECHL: Bobo Carpenter Returns to North America to Join Mavericks

Junior and Collegiate Career

Bobo Carpenter started his junior career in the 2013-14 season playing with the Sioux City Musketeers in the USHL. Carpenter played in 69 games with the Musketeers where he had 40 goals and 32 assists for 72 points with 30 penalty minutes and a +10. In the 2014-15 season, Carpenter was named to the USHL All-Rookie Second Team and led the USHL in goals with 35.

The North Reading, Massachusetts native started his collegiate career playing Division I Hockey in his home state at Boston University. He spent all four seasons of his collegiate career with the Terriers, serving as an alternate captain his junior season. Carpenter then went on to captain the team in his senior season. In 144 games played, Carpenter registered 56 goals and 46 assists for 102 points with 83 penalty minutes and a +20. During his time as a Terrier, Carpenter was named the Hockey East Top Performer 11 times in his four seasons, was named to the New England All-Star Team and Hockey East Second All-Star team in the 2017-18 season, and was named the New England Unsung Hero in the 2018-19 season. Carpenter had one of the Terriers’ two goals in their 2-0 win during the 2018 Hockey East championship game.

Professional Career

After completing his collegiate career, Carpenter launched his professional journey in the AHL, spending parts of four seasons with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Milwaukee Admirals. He totaled nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points, added 23 penalty minutes, and posted a -6 rating across 60 games.

Carpenter later transitioned to the ECHL, joining the Florida Everblades, where he served as an alternate captain during the 2023–24 season. Over 84 ECHL games, he recorded 41 goals and 29 assists for 70 points, along with 22 penalty minutes and a +10 rating. He elevated his game in the postseason, adding 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points in 23 playoff appearances, while finishing +13. Carpenter helped lead Florida to a Kelly Cup championship in 2023–24 and led the entire league in both playoff goals (12) and points (23).

In 2024–25, Carpenter signed with the Belfast Giants in the EIHL. He registered 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points, along with 24 penalty minutes and a +14 in 47 games.

Known for his offensive instincts and leadership, Carpenter finds scoring lanes, drives to the front of the net, and capitalizes on rebounds. His ability to set up teammates and lead by example has made him a respected presence in multiple locker rooms, including past roles as both captain and alternate captain.
