Olof Lindbom, who was drafted 39th overall in Round 2 of the NHL Draft in 2018 by the New York Rangers, is heading overseas to play for the Lahden Pelicans of Finland. Last season, he played a total of 29 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL Central Division and also played seven games with the former AHL Affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack, including one Calder Cup Playoff Game. Despite seeing a lot of playing time, he did not have the best year, posting a 10-15-3 record, 3.56 GAA, and a 0.884 Save % in the regular season with the Cyclones. In his one Calder Cup Playoff Game with the Wolf Pack, it did not go well, as he let in five goals and stopped 23 out of 28 shots against the Hershey Bears in Game 1 of the Atlantic Division Finals, resulting in a 6-1 loss.
New York Rangers' pending restricted free agent (RFA) G Olof Lindbom has signed a one-year contract with Pelicans (Liiga), beginning next season (2024-25), with an option for a second season.#NYR

Olof Lindbom had a successful career in various Swedish leagues during his teenage years. He was selected as the 39th overall pick by the New York Rangers in the 2018 NHL Draft. However, he did not manage to make it to the NHL in the last six years in the USA. He spent most of his time in the ECHL, playing for Jacksonville and Cincinnati, but also had some playing time with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. It is possible that when he goes to Finland to further refine his skills, he may have another opportunity to pursue his dream of playing in the NHL in the near future.

Not surprised on Olof Lindbom’s departure. The #NYR have goaltending depth. With the addition of Hugo Ollas, there was no room for Lindbom.

Next season, Hartford will have Domingue and Garand. Expecting Bloomington to have Talyn Boyko and Hugo Ollas.
