The ECHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Adirondack Thunder forward Daniel Amesbury three games for his actions in Friday Night’s game vs Norfolk Admirals. At the 13:47 mark of the third period, Amesbury would charge Norfolk’s goaltender Isaac Poulter, and then started swinging away at Brandon Engum. He would be assessed a major for charging, a major for fighting, along with a game misconduct for being the aggressor. Amesbury is eligible to return on January 18th when the Thunder visit the Lions. In six games this season with the Utah Grizzlies and Adirondack Thunder, he has 41 PIMS. This is his first suspension of the 2025-26 season. With Amesbury out of the lineup, expect Adirondack to look to guys like Tanner Edwards, Chase McLane, and Jacob Graves to take care of the heavy-hitting duties.

Amesbury Career Stats

The Maple Ridge, British Columbia, native is in his third season in the ECHL, having played with the Fort Wayne Komets, Kansas City Mavericks, Utah Grizzlies, and Adirondack Thunder. In 52 games, he has one assist and 264 PIMs. Amesbury is best known for his time in the FPHL with the Danbury Hat Tricks. In 38 games with Danbury, he had three goals and eight assists for 11 points to go along with 370 PIMs.He would add a goal and 47 PIMs in five playoff games. The Hat Tricks won the Commissioner’s Cup in 2023, as Amesbury led the league with 298 PIMs. Amesbury also won an SPHL Championship in 2012 with the Columbus Cottonmouths, once again leading the league in PIMs (250).
